All of the students did a great job on their semester book reports! Many students created new covers for their books, some students created a diorama for their book, and some created new endings. They all were great!
Final Exams
For the middle school students, their final exam will be their book reports for their independent novels. The students can choose one of the seventeen options that are on the Book Report sheet. The students will then present their book reports to the class during their exam time. Please see the links below for the option and the rubric.
Character Identity
Students were placed in groups and chose a character to discuss. They wrote down traits for the character chosen. The students did a great job!
Ponyboy
The students used the description and information from chapter one in The Outsiders to create a poem about Ponyboy. This will help us better understand our protagonist in the story. All of the students did very well on this assignment.
The Outsiders
Grammar Test!
The students will have a test on unit 1 tomorrow, 10/20.
"My Furthest-Back Person"
The students have been reading this essay written by Alex Haley. This is his quest to discover his family's past and discover where his ancestors came from. The students enjoyed reading this essay and I challenged them to ask their parents or grandparents about their genealogy. Where did they come from? This is an important part of discovering ones identity, the main theme for this unit.
Conflict
Students are working on creating an interactive notebook. The first piece is for conflict. The students learned about the different types of conflict and worked in pairs to glue the examples in to the correct categories.
