All of the students did a great job acting in the middle school play! "7 Angry Pigs" and "Typecast" went very well. The students throughout this experience practiced very well and learned many lessons throughout practice and from the play itself. Thank you to everyone that helped make this play a success! The students were able to raise money to help with the middle school student council. ![]()
![]() April is National Poetry month! This is one of my favorite months as a teacher! I will try to incorporate some poetry into my lessons this month. I really enjoy the poem "Introduction to Poetry" by Billy Collins. I would like to quote a stanza from the poem which is what I would like the students to be able to do with the poems that I give them to read: "I want them to waterski across the surface of a poem There are only fourteen days left of the third quarter. Please make sure all of your assignments are turned in to be graded!
Final exams are scheduled for January 16 and 17. The schedule is attached.
Each of these has an "EPIC" ending line to a book. The students can try to guess the book that this line belongs to. All of these books are fantastic and deserve the title as Epic! The middle school participated in Red Ribbon Week this past week. The student learned so much! In English class we read an excerpt from Mark Twain's novel, Tom Sawyer where the boys were planning on peer pressuring other kids to smoke. We discussed how the students would handle a situation like that. With all of these ideas, all the students wrote reasons why they are going to stay drug free on a Snap chat ghost and posted them on their lockers. The theme is that students would not add drugs to their Snap chat stories. They also thought of creative hashtags! Attached is the guide to MLA formatting sheet. This is a great tool if you have any questions this is a great resource about MLA.
The students participated in an activity where we created long-term and short-term goals for English class.
